“Mike’s Pallet”
This guitar has been made with reclaimed wood from a pallet, the body and neck are pallet wood. The top and bottom are 1/4″ White Oak laminate.
The style of this guitar is quite different from my other builds as it has a top mounted neck, rather than the through or in body neck.
The neck is a 32″ piece of Pallet wood with a 1/4″ round-over detail from the body to the nut. The wood was stained with Varathane Wood Grain Enhancer, which creates a Black grain. Then sealed with Varathane Clear Gloss.
The scale of Mikes pallet is 24″. The body is made out of same Pallet wood that has been left natural color and sealed with Varathane Clear Gloss. The top of body has been stained with Varathane Wood Grain Enhancer and then sealed with Clear Gloss.
Nut consists of 3 5/32 metal screws, with a Maple “Flying Bridge” The tailpiece is the portion of neck that protrudes from end of the body which has 6 – 3/16″ aluminum rivet heads to act as string guides.
The top lid has 2 – 1 1/2″ sound holes, with covers that have been crafted from plastic Gator Ade bottles, with metal screen and spray painted silver.
Tuning pegs are fully sealed locking pegs. Mikes Pallet is tuned to “Open G”
G-D-G
Strings are bulk Phosphor Bronze Wound
Mikes Pallet has been amplified using a 1 1/8″ round Piezo disc pickup placed under the bridge.
If you have any comments, questions please don’t hesitate to send them along and I will do my best to answer. I will be posting more of CB Guitar builds.
So until next time take care, and happy building and remember
All you need is 3 strings !!
