ARCB GUITARS

HOG

This build is “HOG” I bought a new bike and received a metal tin from the Harley Owners Group, and it was the perfect size for a guitar.

The tin started out grey which I decided to paint Harley colors, Black & Orange. I painted box, fret markers, sound hole covers, bridge, nut. The top of the box is Orange, Bottom Black, I cut two sound holes which I filled with Black metal grate.

The neck and brace are Red Oak, neck is 32″ long and both have 1/4 round over router detail. Both have been stained with Watco Dark Walnut and sealed with Varathane Clear Gloss.

Fret board is a 20″ piece of Poplar which has been left natural. I drew pencil fret lines and sealed with Varathane Clear Gloss. The fret markers are 3/4″ Robertson Head wood screws painted Black & Orange.

Bridge is a 1-1/2″ length piece of threaded rod painted black, the nut consists of three 5/32″ metal screws, the middle screw is painted Orange and remaining two are Black.

Tuning pegs are Black fulling sealed locking pegs. Strings are steel .012, .016, .020 tuned to Open G

G-D-G

The tailpiece is metal which I painted Black. I purchased from CBGITTY which is an excellent source for all things Cigar Box Guitars.

Finally HOG has been amplified with a 1-1/8″ round Piezo pickup place under the Bridge.

If you have any comments, questions please don’t hesitate to send them along and I will do my best to answer. I will be posting more of my CB guitars.

So until next time take care, happy building, and remember
All you need is 3 Strings !!
